ISLAMABAD: Widespread rainfall is expected across Pakistan, including Balochistan, between July 6 and 10, according to the Meteorological Department.

Rain is likely in several Balochistan cities such as Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, and Kalat. Similar weather conditions are anticipated in Azad Kashmir, particularly in Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, and Rawalakot.

In the Pothohar region — including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, and Attock — as well as parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa like Peshawar, Dir, Swat, Chitral, and Kohistan, thunderstorms and showers are also expected.

The department forecasts light to heavy rainfall in various parts of Punjab over the next 24 hours. In Lahore, the temperature is expected to range between 31°C and 37°C.

Over the past ten years, Pakistan has experienced increasingly erratic and intense monsoon patterns due to climate change.

From the devastating floods of 2010 to the unprecedented rainfall in 2022 that submerged one-third of the country, monsoon rains have grown more unpredictable and damaging.

Urban flooding in major cities like Karachi and Lahore has become a recurring issue, while rural areas often suffer from landslides and infrastructure damage.
