Balochistan to receive 25% share in Reko Diq profits: CM Bugti

QUETTA: Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti on Thursday stressed the significance of the country’s largest mining project, Reko Diq, saying the project would benefit Balochistan.

Addressing a large jirga held in Dalbandin city of Rakhshan Division, the Chief Minister said that Balochistan will get a 25 percent share in the Reko Diq project.

The jirga was attended by Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Commander Balochistan Corps Lt. Gen. Rahat Naseem Ahmed Khan, provincial ministers, senior civil and military officials, tribal elders, women, students, and local citizens.

He said that all unskilled workers are locals and from Balochistan.

Chief Minister Bugti called Rakhshan the “heart of Balochistan and Pakistan.” He noted the region’s vast mineral wealth and strategic importance.

He further committed to providing laptops to BS students in all public degree colleges across the Rakhshan Division.

Tribal elders praised the role of law enforcement in maintaining peace. They expressed confidence in the government’s commitment to development and stability.

Officials met with tribal elders, women, and youth. They listened to public concerns and discussed possible solutions.\

Earlier, the gathering began with a floral wreath-laying and Fateha at the Martyrs’ Memorial.
