Assistant Commissioner among four killed in Bajaur blast

BAJAUR: Local administration said Wednesday that a senior government officer was among four killed in a bomb blast near the Phatak Mela in Bajaur.

Initial report suggests that terrorists used a remote-controlled device to detonate an improvised explosive device near an assistant commissioner’s vehicle in the troubled Bajaur district.

According to police, rescue teams have reached the site and relief operations are underway, and the injured are being taken to Headquarters Hospital Khar.

The blast also damaged several vehicles, with one vehicle completely destroyed.

Security forces arrived at the scene shortly after the explosion.

They have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

Police confirmed that the Assistant Commissioner’s vehicle was the primary target of the blast.
Advisor on Health Ehtesham Ali strongly condumned the attack and expressed sorrow over the martyrdom of Assistant Commissioner and others.

In a statement, he said that he contacted the District Health Officer (DHO) and Medical Superintendent (MS) of DHQ Bajaur.

A state of emergency has been declared in hospitals in the Bajaur and all the staff have been put on high alert for providing first aid.

Ehtesham Ali salid that all possible medical assistance will be provided to the injured of the blast.
