Over 2,800 inactive schools reactivated across Balochistan

QUETTA: Out of more than 3,000 previously inactive schools across 36 districts of Balochistan, 2,864 schools have been made functional, according to a report by the Directorate of Education Schools Balochistan. This significant progress follows the appointment of teachers through the SBK recruitment process.

According to reports, it stated that out of a total of 3,387 inactive schools, 2,864 are now operational. Of these, 2,835 are primary schools, while 26 are middle schools and 3 are high schools.

All schools in 18 districts, including Quetta, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Gwadar, and Dera Bugti, have been fully activated. However, 523 schools across the remaining 18 districts remain inactive, and the government has pledged to take further steps to operationalize them.

District-level data shows varying progress:

100% activation in districts like Barkhan (140/140) and Pishin (245/245)

Major improvements in others: Awaran (103/136), Kachhi (150/160), Mastung (82/92)

Minimal activation in districts like Qila Saifullah (18/175) and Kech (13/115)

The government aims to activate all remaining schools and ensure full access to education across the province.
