ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan has always made efforts for regional peace and stability, there was no choice but to give an immediate and decisive response to Indian aggression.
According to a press release issued by the Prime Minister’s Office Press Wing, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed these views during a telephone conversation with Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Sri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday. The two leaders also exchanged greetings on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.
During the pleasant and friendly telephone call, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the leadership and people of Malaysia on Eid-ul-Adha.
He prayed for the unity and prosperity of the Muslim Ummah. The two leaders also prayed for peace in Gaza and the protection of innocent Palestinians.
Shahbaz Sharif, while sincerely thanking Malaysia for its support and balanced stance during the recent tension between Pakistan and India, also stressed the need for de-escalation and dialogue.
He also made special mention of the telephonic conversation he had with the Malaysian Prime Minister on May 4, 2025, during the height of the tension.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan has always strived for regional peace and stability, but we had no choice but to give a prompt and decisive response to India’s military aggression against innocent Pakistanis because India violated Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He further said that Pakistan has accepted the offer of a ceasefire mediation by the United States and other friendly countries in the interest of regional peace and security.
He reiterated that Pakistan is ready to engage with India on all outstanding issues, including Jammu and Kashmir.
The two Prime Ministers also discussed Pakistan-Malaysia relations and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation in several areas, including trade, investment and culture.
The Prime Minister said during the conversation that he looks forward to an official visit to Malaysia later this year, for which diplomatic channels are working to determine mutually convenient dates.
Prime Minister’s telephonic contact with the Emir of Qatar on the occasion of Eid al-Adha
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today telephonically contacted the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to the Emir of Qatar and the people of Qatar on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

The Prime Minister thanked the Emir of Qatar for his proactive diplomacy and constructive role in reducing the recent escalating tensions between Pakistan and India.
He also appreciated the role of the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, who spoke to the Prime Minister on the phone at the height of the crisis.
The two leaders reiterated their shared desire to enhance relations between the two countries, particularly through mutually beneficial trade and investment.
His Highness the Amir of Qatar warmly responded to the Prime Minister’s Eid greetings and conveyed his best wishes to the people of Pakistan. The two leaders agreed to remain in touch and meet each other at the earliest.
The Prime Minister, expressing gratitude for the balanced stance taken for peace and dialogue during the recent Pakistan-India crisis, extended Eid-ul-Adha greetings to the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and the brotherly people of Tajikistan.

During the pleasant and warm telephonic conversation, the Prime Minister thanked him and the Pakistani delegation for the generous hospitality extended to him during his recent visit to Dushanbe and also congratulated Tajikistan on the successful holding of the International Conference on Glacier Conservation.
Expressing gratitude for Tajikistan’s balanced stance for peace and dialogue during the recent Pakistan-India crisis, Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that Pakistan has always strived to maintain peace and security in the region and it was in this spirit that Pakistan had agreed to a ceasefire agreement with India under the mediation of the United States and other friendly countries.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the positive momentum of bilateral relations gradually developing in all areas of mutual interest.
The Prime Minister also reiterated his invitation to the Tajik President to pay an official visit to Pakistan at the earliest.
President Emomali Rahmon thanked the Prime Minister for the telephone call and appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace and security. He also expressed his best wishes to the Pakistani people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.
