KALAT: Two people lost their lives in a road accident near Kalat. According to details, the tragic incident occurred near the city of Kalat in Balochistan, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. Reports also indicate that six others were injured in the accident. The bodies of the deceased and the injured have been promptly shifted to nearby hospitals.
It is important to note that just a few days ago, another fatal accident took place on the Karachi-Quetta highway, claiming four lives.
Among the deceased was Assistant SHO Ali Raza. All the victims of that earlier incident reportedly belonged to the Hazara community.
Over the past decade, Balochistan has witnessed a troubling rise in deadly road accidents, making it one of the provinces most affected by highway fatalities in Pakistan.
The primary contributors to these incidents include poorly maintained roads, reckless driving, lack of traffic enforcement, and inadequate emergency response.
Major highways such as the Quetta-Karachi and Quetta-Taftan routes have been particularly dangerous due to heavy cargo movement, narrow passages, and absence of roadside safety measures.
According to media and health department reports, thousands of lives have been lost in road accidents in Balochistan between 2015 and 2025.
Some years have seen death tolls exceeding 600 due to multiple high-casualty crashes involving passenger vans, buses, and trucks.
Many of the victims include women and children, and often entire families are wiped out in single incidents.

Despite frequent tragedies, there has been little long-term improvement in infrastructure or road safety laws. This consistent loss of life highlights the urgent need for strict regulation, modernized highways, and public awareness campaigns to prevent further bloodshed on Balochistan’s roads.
