Indian Army confirms losing several fighter jets in clash with Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: In a rare acknowledgment, Chief of Defense Staff of the Indian Armed Forces Anil Chauhan, has confirmed that India lost several fighter jets in recent clashes with Pakistan.

While giving an interview to the American broadcaster Bloomberg TV, Indian Chief of Defence Staff Anil Chauhan said that Pakistan shot down several of Indian fighter jets during the recent Indo-Pak tensions.

The Indian Army has confirmed for the first time that it lost an unspecified number of its fighter jets in clashes with Pakistan.

India’s General Anil Chauhan said that the important thing is not that the aircraft were shot down, but why they were shot down, adding that the mistakes made are important.

Earlier in May, CNN and Reuters reported that US and French officials also confirmed that Pakistan had shot down an Indian jet with the help of a plane acquired from China.

CNN quoted a senior US official as saying that according to their analysis, Pakistani forces shot down the jet during Indian air strikes inside Pakistan.

A top French intelligence official also told CNN that Pakistan had shot down a Rafale fighter jet used by the Indian Air Force.

Earlier on Friday, Senior BJP politicians have already admitted to shooting down 5 Indian jets.
