Electric Shuttle Service Planned for Quetta Downtown

Quetta: A crucial meeting was held on May 29, 2025, under the chairmanship of Secretary Transport, Hayat Kakar, from the Department of Transport, Government of Balochistan.

The meeting focused on launching an electric shuttle service (Electric Vehicles – EVs) in Quetta’s downtown areas including Liaquat Bazaar, Kandhari Bazaar, Jinnah Road, and Suraj Ganj Bazaar.

During the meeting, it was highlighted that the Metropolitan Corporation Quetta has recently issued an official notification designating the downtown area as a complete no-parking zone.

The participants emphasized that the government aims to provide citizens with modern, eco-friendly, and comfortable transport services to improve mobility within the downtown zone.

In the initial phase of the project, electric vehicles will operate on three designated routes covering key downtown locations.

These shuttles will run in both directions, and a fixed number of EVs will be deployed at the start. Depending on public demand, the fleet size may be increased in the future.
