QUETTA: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast hot and dry weather across most areas of Balochistan, with particularly intense heat expected in the southern and plain districts of the province.
According to the Met Office, strong and dusty winds are also likely during this period, which may reduce visibility and further intensify the heatwave conditions in some regions.
Temperature readings across various cities highlighted the widespread heat. In Quetta, the maximum temperature was recorded at 35°C, while Kalat saw a slightly cooler 29°C. Ziarat remained relatively mild with a maximum of 25°C, but the mercury in Zhob also climbed to 35°C.
Extreme temperatures were recorded in parts of central and southern Balochistan. Sibi and Turbat topped the charts with a scorching 47°C, while Nokkundi recorded 42°C and Chaman 35°C.
Coastal areas were not spared either. Gwadar registered a high of 40°C, and Jiwani followed closely with 39°C.
The Meteorological Department has advised residents, particularly the elderly and children, to take precautionary measures, stay hydrated, and avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun during peak hours. The authorities may issue further advisories if the hot and dry spell persists or intensifies.
