Massive bills and outages spark public outcry in Quetta

QUETTA: Amid intense heat across various parts of Balochistan, residents are now facing severe electricity issues, including prolonged and unannounced power outages, followed by the shock of inflated electricity bills.

In areas like Sariab, many citizens have received bills as high as Rs. 50,000, allegedly based on false meter readings.

The latest bills issued by Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) have sparked outrage, being described as financial missiles targeting the public.

Noted figure Prince Agha Umar Ahmadzai strongly condemned the issue, questioning whether the residents of Sariab are not also citizens of Balochistan.

Pakistan People’s Party MPA Ali Madad Jatak also protested, asking how a poor person could possibly afford such a bill.
