9 Killed in Delhi Building Fire After Suspected AC Blast

NEW DELHI/ INDIA: Nine people were killed after a fire broke out in a residential building in New Delhi, India, reportedly caused by a suspected air conditioner explosion.

According to Indian media, the fire suddenly erupted on the second floor of a building in the Vivek Vihar area and quickly spread to the third and fourth floors.

Rescue teams rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the fire.

A total of 14 fire tenders took part in the operation, rescuing dozens of people.

After nearly two hours of efforts, the fire was brought under control.

Authorities said the injured were shifted to the hospital for treatment, while the identities of the nine deceased have been confirmed.

Officials added that the exact cause of the fire is still unknown, but residents claimed it may have started due to an AC explosion.

An investigation has been launched.
