Young Footballer Killed in Armed Attack on Team Bus

ACCRA: A young local footballer was killed in a shooting attack on a team bus in Ghana, foreign media reported on Monday.

The victim, identified as 20-year-old Dominic Frimpong, played for a local football club competing in the Ghana Premier League.

The incident occurred after the team returned from a league match. Unidentified armed men intercepted the team bus and opened fire, according to reports.

The driver attempted to reverse the bus to escape the attack. Players and staff then ran into nearby bushes to take cover.

Frimpong sustained a gunshot wound to the head during the attack. He was critically injured and later died from his wounds. Other passengers on the bus escaped unharmed.

The Ghana Football Association expressed deep sorrow over the incident. It offered condolences to the player’s family and the club.

Police launched an investigation and began a search for the attackers. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
