DERA MURAD JAMALI: In a tragic incident of honor killing, two people—including a woman and her alleged acquaintance—were shot dead by her brother-in-law in the Nasirabad district of Balochistan. The accused managed to flee the scene following the double murder, police officials confirmed on Thursday.

According to police sources, the incident occurred late Wednesday night in the Manjho Shori area of Nasirabad. The suspect, identified as the brother-in-law of the woman, allegedly opened fire on his sister-in-law, Mst. (name withheld as per victim’s identity, referred to as ‘AS’), and a man identified as Liaquat Ali.

The accused reportedly accused the two of blackmail and illicit relations, using the pretext of “honor” to justify the killings. After committing the crime, the suspect fled the scene, leaving the two bodies behind.

Upon receiving information about the incident, a police team immediately rushed to the spot. The officials took custody of the bodies and shifted them to a local hospital for medico-legal formalities. After the necessary procedures and post-mortem examination, the bodies were handed over to the legal heirs for burial.

Station House Officer (SHO) of the relevant police station confirmed that a case has been registered on the complaint of the victims’ heirs. “We have lodged an FIR and launched a raid to apprehend the fugitive. Further investigation is underway,” the SHO stated.

Police have intensified their efforts to track down the accused and have formed teams to arrest him at the earliest. This incident adds to the alarming statistics of violence against women in the region, where tribal customs often supersede the law.
