Winter holidays announced across Balochistan

QUETTA: Winter vacations in the educational institutes of Baluchistan have been announced.

The schools in the Winter Zone are to remain closed for about two and half months. However, the students of the Summer Zone will enjoy holidays for 10 days.

According to the details, the winter vacations have been announced in the two zones of the Baluchistan’s area.

The schools in the Winter Zone will remain close from 16th December 2025 to 28th February 2026.

However, the schools in the Summer Zone will remain closed from 22nd December to 4th January.

Balochistan’s Winter Zone includes high-altitude areas such as Quetta, Ziarat, Kalat, Pishin, and Mastung.

These regions experience very cold winters, snowfall, and low temperatures due to their elevation.

The climate remains cool for most of the year, and winters start early and end late.

Agriculture here is based on cold-resistant crops like apples and cherries.

The Summer Zone covers lowland and warmer regions such as Turbat, Gwadar, Lasbela, Sibi, Dera Bugti, and Kharan.

These areas face extremely hot summers and mild winters.

Temperatures can rise very high, especially in Turbat and Sibi.

This zone supports heat-tolerant crops like dates and mangoes and has a desert-like climate in many parts.

The winter season is intensely cold in the Winter Zone of Balochistan.

Snowfall and fog becomes so intense that the temperature decreases to well below the freezing point.

The cool breeze makes it extremely difficult for the residents that despite using warm dresses, drinks and dry fruits, the weather becomes very difficult to cope with.

However, in the summer season, unlike the Southern areas, the North Zone has a moderate and pleasant weather.
