MARDAN: Three people, including a child, were injured after the roof of a room collapsed in the Saeed Abad area of Maskin Abad in Takht Bhai, Mardan, amid ongoing rainfall.
In this regard, as per the Rescue 1122, the incident occurred when the roof of a residential room suddenly gave way, trapping three individuals beneath the debris.
The Rescue 1122 promptly dispatched its disaster response team, medical personnel, and ambulances to the site to begin rescue and relief operations.
Rescue officials successfully removed the injured victims from the rubble and provided them with immediate first aid at the scene. The injured were later shifted to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment.
The incident comes as Mardan continues to experience heavy rainfall, raising concerns over the structural safety of older buildings and increasing pressure on municipal authorities to ensure effective emergency preparedness.
Meanwhile, the Water and Sanitation Services Company Mardan (WSSC M) has intensified its field operations to maintain an efficient drainage system and prevent urban flooding during the ongoing spell of rain.
The field teams remained deployed across various parts of the city under the directions of Chief Executive Officer Engineer Adil Nawaz. Emergency measures were initiated at locations where rainwater accumulated to ensure timely drainage and minimize inconvenience to residents.
However, WSSC M stated that special teams have been stationed at identified flood-prone hotspots to facilitate the swift removal of standing water.
