QUETTA: Mainly dry and cold weather is expected across Balochistan during the next twenty-four hours.
According to the weather department, most parts of Balochistan will remain dry and cold in the coming twenty-four hours.
Yesterday, Turbat was the hottest area across the province with the temperature of 39 degrees centigrade.
Nokundi was the other district with an intense temperature of 35 degrees.
However, the areas of Quetta and Ziarat had had a cold weather with 22 and 17 degrees centigrade.
The border-areas along with Iran and Afghanistan and Northern Balochistan witness and rapidly cooling weather due to the west-winds making their way through. However, the southern and the central Balochistan still remains hot during the day when the temperature approaches 40s.
With the rapid decrease in the temperature, an intense shortage of water has also been reported across Balochistan.
The underground water declines to a horrible level in Quetta and other parts of the country.
In Quetta, the level of water can be reached from 700 to 1000 feet underground after boring which costs a hefty amount.
Quetta used to add 20 percent of the agricultural income to the total GDP of Balochistan.
However, the shortage of water has reduced Quetta’s share to 10 percent.
The experts have expressed deep concerns on the decline of underground water level across Balochistan and have suggested the provincial government to take all the necessary measures rather quickly in this regard.
The consistent decline of the underground water level causes a threat of Balochistan’s land to become barren and infertile in near future.
The shortage of water may not only be massive threat to the millions of people living the deserted and dry areas but it may also cause deaths for the animals possessed by the nomadic people as well.
With the minimal industrial infrastructure and other works, agriculture and the livestock remain two of the few sources of livelihood in Balochistan.
But the growing water-challenge can push Balochistan to a massive economical chaos.
