TEL AVIV: In a stark indication of escalating regional tensions, Israeli officials confirmed Monday that a massive shipment of 6,500 tons of ammunition and military equipment from the United States has arrived in the country.
The Israeli Ministry of Defense announced that two cargo ships and several aircraft transported the consignment, which includes ammunition, armored vehicles, and other unspecified military hardware. The delivery underscores the depth of the US-Israeli security alliance amid what Tel Aviv describes as a heightened state of war readiness.
“This equipment is critical for maintaining our qualitative military edge and defending our citizens,” a ministry spokesperson said, describing the arrival as part of ongoing logistics operations.
Since the outbreak of the war in Gaza, the scale of US military support has been staggering. According to the Israeli Defense Ministry, a total of 115,600 tons of military equipment has been provided to Israel. This equipment has been delivered via 403 cargo flights and 10 ships, forming one of the largest rapid military resupply efforts in recent history.
Analysts note that the sustained flow of heavy armor and ammunition highlights the intense consumption rates of modern warfare and suggests Israel is preparing for a prolonged campaign or expanding regional operations. Neither the Pentagon nor the White House immediately commented on the latest shipment figures.
