ISLAMABAD: World leaders welcomed the breakthrough peace agreement between the United States and Iran on Monday, praising Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in helping secure a deal that could end months of conflict, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and ease tensions across the Middle East.

Several singled out Pakistan for its mediation role, alongside Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and other regional partners that helped bring Washington and Tehran to the negotiating table.

U.S. and Iranian officials announced on Sunday that both sides had agreed on a framework to end hostilities, lift the U.S. blockade on Iran, and restore maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. Formal signing of the memorandum of understanding is expected in Switzerland on Friday.
