UN Warns of Impending El Niño as Ocean Temperatures rise by 6 Degrees

UNITED NATIONS : The United Nations UN has issued a stark warning over the formation of the weather system “El Niño,” which is expected to develop between June and August, posing a serious threat to global climate stability.

According to UN reports, ocean temperatures have risen by 6 degrees, making the occurrence of El Niño 90% likely. The phenomenon is expected to drive up temperatures worldwide and bring excessive rainfall to many regions.

“El Niño has come to our doorstep,” said UN Secretary-General António Guterres. He urged the international community to treat the crisis with the same level of seriousness it demands, calling for immediate and decisive measures.

Guterres emphasized the need to abandon traditional fossil fuels and accelerate the transition to renewable energy sources. The El Niño system is estimated to persist until November, prolonging its potential impact on global weather patterns.
