WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Iran, stating that if a peace deal is not reached soon, it will be a “very bad time” for the Islamic Republic.
In a telephone interview with a French broadcaster, Trump emphasized that reaching an agreement is in Iran’s interest. He did not provide specific details on the proposed deal or the timeline for a response.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister has confirmed that messages have been received from the Trump administration expressing a desire for new talks. However, he added that there remains deep distrust in Tehran regarding Washington’s true intentions.
The Iranian minister pointed to past US actions, noting that the United States attacked Iran twice during previous negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program. That history, he suggested, has made it difficult for Tehran to enter new discussions without significant reservations.
The exchange comes amid ongoing tensions between the two countries, with the international community watching closely for any signs of a diplomatic breakthrough or further escalation
