WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump severely reprimanded Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a recent telephonic conversation following fresh Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon.
According to sources, the US President adopted an unusually harsh and bitter tone during the call, telling Netanyahu that the Israeli Prime Minister would be in prison if it were not for his intervention.
“If I weren’t here, you would be in jail. I am saving your skin,” President Trump reportedly told the Israeli Prime Minister.
“You are an extremely ungrateful and insane person. Because of you, the world hates Israel. Your policies have left Israel completely isolated in the world today.”
Later, during a press briefing with reporters, the US President stated that Israel is not sending its ground troops into Beirut.
He further announced that Israel and Hezbollah will no longer launch attacks against each other.
