Mumbai: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batsman Tim David has been suspended for the opening match of the next Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
According to Indian media reports, the disciplinary action follows an incident during the IPL 2026 final against Gujarat Titans, where David aggressively threw an ice bag toward umpire Nitin Menon.
The outburst marked David’s third Level 1 offense of the season.
Consequently, he has been fined 50 percent of his match fee and handed two demerit points.
This addition brought his total demerit points over the past 36 months to five, triggering an automatic one-match ban.
The incident occurred during the 10th over of Gujarat’s innings after Jordan Cox survived a caught-behind appeal off Washington Sundar’s bowling, which the umpire ruled not out.
Under Article 2.9 of the IPL Code of Conduct, throwing a ball or any cricket equipment dangerously or inappropriately at a player, team official, umpire, or any third person is a punishable offense.
Having already breached the code twice earlier in the tournament, David’s latest violation resulted in the strict penalty.
