LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the 15-member squad for the Asian Games 2026 men’s T20 International cricket competition.
Sahibzada Farhan has been appointed as the captain of the side, while Abdul Samad will serve as his deputy.
The men’s T20 cricket event at the Asian Games will begin on 24 September 2026 in Aichi, Japan, with the medal matches scheduled for 3 October.
The selected squad includes a mix of experienced players and fresh talent, as several young cricketers are set to make their international debut.
Akif Javed, Ali Raza, Muaz Sadaqat, and Saad Masood are among those who could represent Pakistan for the first time at T20I level.
Sahibzada Farhan, 30, has played 46 T20 Internationals for Pakistan, scoring 1,305 runs, including two centuries and ten half-centuries, reflecting his consistency in the shortest format.
Over the last two years, Pakistan’s T20I performances have been inconsistent, marked by frequent changes in leadership and experimentation with team combinations.
While the team has shown flashes of strong batting and bowling performances, it has struggled to maintain momentum in major tournaments and bilateral series.
This transitional phase has led the selectors to increasingly focus on blending experienced players with emerging domestic talent for long-term stability and improved results.
