“Supreme Leader alive”: Iran FM declares regime change ‘impossible

TEHRAN: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has issued a stark warning to the administration of former US President Donald Trump, stating that any goal of overthrowing the government in Tehran is unattainable. In an interview with American media, Araqchi declared that the Islamic Republic remains strong despite the loss of key commanders.

“Donald Trump’s mission of regime change in Iran is impossible,” Araqchi stated, directly addressing the former president. He emphasized that the recent martyrdom of Iranian military commanders would not alter the country’s strategic direction or stability, asserting, “The message for Donald Trump is that overthrowing the government in Iran is mission impossible.”

While maintaining a firm stance against external pressure, the Foreign Minister also signaled Tehran’s openness to de-escalation. He outlined a conditional path toward dialogue, stating, “Iran is interested in reducing tensions, first the attacks should be stopped and then there will be talks.”

Araqchi stressed that any future negotiations must respect Iran’s red lines, particularly regarding its nuclear activities. He made it clear that Tehran would not compromise on its fundamental principles. “We will not give up any of our rights, including nuclear proliferation [enrichment],” he said, clarifying that a new nuclear agreement must be centered on guaranteeing the peaceful nature of Iran’s program.

Regarding the scope of Iran’s military capabilities, Araqchi was explicit in denying any intention to attack the American homeland. “We do not have the ability to target American soil,” he confirmed in the interview.

The Foreign Minister also confirmed that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is alive and at the helm, reinforcing the message of political continuity and resilience in the face of foreign pressure.
