ISLAMABAD: A key suspect behind the fatal stoning of security official Shabir Ahmed during protests in Gwadar has officially filed a mercy petition through his family.
The suspect, Sibghatullah, confessed to his involvement in the attack but explicitly placed the responsibility on central Baloch Yakjehti Committee member Mahrang Lango, claiming he was acting directly under her instructions.
In his petition addressed to the court and the victim’s family, Sibghatullah asserted his innocence, arguing that he was misled and manipulated into violence, and requested leniency based on his ignorance.
Law enforcement agencies stated that this confession exposes how impressionable youths are systematically used as shields to target security personnel under the guise of public protests.
Meanwhile, reports from independent digital media in Balochistan suggest a growing sense of public satisfaction following recent legal actions against Mahrang, with local citizens viewing the court’s stance as a victory for the rule of law and long-term regional stability.
Additionally, internal rifts have reportedly surfaced within local organizational factions, where leadership changes have sparked anticipation over the redistribution of foreign funding, further fueling criticism that personal and financial interests are driving these movements at the cost of local youth.
It is worth metioning that the Anti-Terrorism Court has given a verdict on a protest in Gwadar by Baloch Yakjehti Committee in which a security personnel shabbir Baloch was brutally killed by the protestant who threw stones at him.
Sibghat ullah , an elderly member of Baloch Yakjehti Committee was called a key figure responsible for the killing of Shabbir Baloch.
However, Sibghatullah has filed a mercy petition in which he has taken a stance that the violence was caused on the dictation of the central leadership of BYC , led by Mahrang langove.
