QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti paid rich tribute to the security forces for successfully eliminating Khawarij terrorists in a recent operation.
In a statement on the social media platform X, the Chief Minister said the nation would never forget the sacrifices of the brave soldiers who laid down their lives defending the motherland.
He said the martyred heroes had set an enduring example of courage and patriotism, and their names would remain written in golden letters in national history.
Reaffirming his resolve to continue the fight against terrorism, Bugti said the people, the government, and the armed forces stood united against all enemies of peace.
Earlier today, Pakistan’s military’s media wing, the ISPR, said in a statement that security forces foiled two major infiltration attempts by Indian-sponsored militants along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, killing 25 terrorists, including four suicide bombers, during intense operations in Kurram and North Waziristan districts on October 24–25.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), troops detected movements of two large groups of khwarij—members of the Indian proxy network Fitna al Khwarij—attempting to cross into Pakistan near the Ghaki area of Kurram District and Spinwam in North Waziristan.
Security forces engaged the infiltrators with precision fire, killing 15 militants in Spinwam, including four suicide bombers, and another 10 in Ghaki. A significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from the dead insurgents.
Five Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom during the fierce exchange of fire. The fallen heroes include Havildar Manzoor Hussain (35, Ghizar), Sepoy Nauman Ilyas Kiyani (23, Poonch), Sepoy Muhammad Adil (24, Kasur), Sepoy Shah Jehan (25, Vehari), and Sepoy Ali Asghar (25, Pakpattan).
ISPR said the infiltration attempts coincided with ongoing talks between delegations of Pakistan and Afghanistan in Türkiye, raising “serious doubts” about the Afghan interim government’s commitment to curbing terrorism from its soil. Pakistan has repeatedly urged Kabul to strengthen border management and honor its Doha Agreement commitments by preventing militant use of Afghan territory.
Security forces have launched a sanitization operation in the area to eliminate any remaining militants. The ISPR reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces remain resolute in defending the nation’s frontiers, stating that the sacrifices of fallen soldiers “further strengthen our resolve.”
The statement added that the ongoing counterterrorism campaign under the Azm-e-Istehkam vision, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will continue at full pace to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan.
Earlier this month, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), told reporters at Peshawar Corps Headquarters that 917 militants, including 126 Afghan nationals, in more than 10,000 counterterrorism operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this year.
