Pakistan and Iran agree to open Sorab-Mand point

KECH: Turbat Deputy Commissioner Bashir Ahmed Badich held an important meeting with Iranian officials at the Best Panjgah Gubd border, focusing on the promotion of bilateral trade and the reopening of cross-border commerce.

The discussion covered the restoration of border trade, facilitation for business communities, and the establishment of a well-organized system for movement and transactions.

According to sources, it was decided that the Sorab-Mand border at pillar number 214 will be officially opened for trade in the first week of December.

Deputy Commissioner Bashir Ahmed Badich stated that the launch of border trade will create new employment opportunities for locals and contribute to the economic growth of the Makran Division.

It was further reported that Pakistani officials will visit the Sorab-Mand point at border pillar 214, while Iranian representatives are expected to visit the border on December 1.

The border will then be formally reopened for commercial activities within the same week.

Local residents and traders welcomed this decision, expressing optimism that the resumption of border trade will revitalize the regional economy and strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation between the two neighboring countries.

It is worth mentioning that the Pak-Iran border had met a closure a few months ago keeping in the view the border security by the officials of both the governments.

Militants residing the areas on the both sides of border made swift movements across the border after carrying out terror attacks.

Such incidents caused major threats for the national security of both the countries.

So, it was mutually decided to close the border which causes immense distress for the people who were associated with the trade and the employment across the borders.

The move suspended all the economic activity leading to poverty and chaos to millions of people.
