RAWALPINDI: A specialized medical team from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) conducted a comprehensive health examination of former Prime Minister and PTI founder, Imran Khan, at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail on Friday.
According to jail sources, a three-member delegation comprising Dr. Zulfiqar, Dr. Arif, and Dr. Asil from PIMS Hospital arrived at the prison facility specifically for the assessment. The examination was notably detailed, with doctors focusing on specific areas including Khan’s eyes and teeth. A general physician within the team also performed a complete medical check-up of the former premier.
Following the examination, the medical team has prescribed a course of medication for Imran Khan. The doctors are expected to compile and submit a formal medical report to the jail administration, which will detail their findings and any recommended follow-up care. The visit underscores ongoing concerns regarding the health and welfare of the high-profile inmate, who has been incarcerated at Adiala Jail following a series of legal convictions.
No official statement has been released by the jail administration or PIMS regarding the specific reasons for this examination or its outcomes. Such medical visits are procedural, but given Khan’s political stature, they attract significant public and media attention, often fueling debate about prison conditions and the treatment of political figures in custody.
