ISTANBUL: The second round of the peace talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan begins in Istanbul today.
According to the sources, the talks between the Pakistani and the Afghan delegations have begun in a local hotel in Istanbul. The high officials of Turkey are hosting the peace-talks. According to the sources, a two-members delegation is attending the dialogue from Pakistan. The Vice Home Minister of Afghanistan Rehmatullah Mujeeb is heading the Afghan delegation.
ources say that, along with others, the acting head of the Afghan embassy in Qatar, Anas Haqqani who is the brother of the Afghan Interior Minister, Noor Ahmed Noor, a representative of the Ministry of Defense Noor Rehman Nusrat, and the spokesperson of the Afghan Foreign Ministry are also participating in the talks.
The sources say that a mechanism is being carried out in the dialogues which involves the monitoring over the militancy.
According to the sources, the Pakistani officials have brought their recommendations for the talks in which, militant -attacks in Pakistan from Afghanistan, their monitoring and the mechanism in this regard will be finalized.
It is worth mentioning that the first round of the peace talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan was held in Doha Under Qatar and Turkey’s mediation which led to the ceasefire between Pakistan and Iran.
The border corridors of Chaman, Khyber, North and South Waziristan and District Kurram are closed on the 14th day due to the Pakistan and Afghanistan’s strain.
