Parent-Teacher committees launched across Balochistan to boost education

QUETTA: The Balochistan School Education Department, supported by UNICEF and the European Union (EU), has established Parents, Teachers, and School Management Committees (PTSMCs) across the province. The initiative is part of the vision of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hameed Durrani.

Official data shows that 1,068 schools in various districts have now formed these committees. Over 11,000 members were elected through a fair and transparent process.

The PTSMCs are designed to enhance transparency and community participation. Their roles will include monitoring school performance, ensuring the efficient use of resources, promoting student enrollment, and helping to resolve local education challenges.

The project marks a significant step toward improving education governance and strengthening partnerships between parents, teachers, and local communities.
