Pakistan's T20 record crashes to new low against major teams

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s T20 record shows that the team in green continued to deliver a second-rate performance against major sides, with the latest loss coming in the first T20 International against visiting South Africa at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The national team’s success rate against strong international opponents has dropped sharply, with statistics revealing a consistent pattern of poor results.

Data shows that Pakistan has won only one out of its last 25 T20 matches against major cricketing nations.

Pakistan’s T20 record of the last 25 matches

  • Pakistan Against India: Pakistan lost all their last five T20 matches (0–5).
  • Against Australia: The record remains the same, with seven consecutive defeats (0–7).
  • Against England: Pakistan failed to secure a single win against England in the last five completed matches (0–5).
  • Against South Africa: With the last night lost, Pakistan lost three in a row to South Africa
  • Against New Zealand: In the latest five-match series, Pakistan managed to win just one game (1–4).

The numbers expose a troubling pattern: Pakistan has repeatedly failed to compete at the same level as top-tier cricket nations. Once feared for its unpredictability and match-winning flair, the side now appears directionless and fragile under pressure.

Analysts attribute the slide to unsettled batting orders, inconsistent bowling, and a lack of coherent game strategy. Many argue that Pakistan’s mental approach has weakened, with players struggling to perform in decisive moments.

Cricket experts say the team needs urgent structural reforms, stronger leadership, and renewed tactical clarity to regain its footing in the shortest format.

Fans, meanwhile, are growing impatient. With upcoming series on the horizon, pressure is mounting on the Pakistan Cricket Board and team management to deliver a turnaround — or risk further damage to the country’s once-formidable T20 reputation.

This week, the PCB had announced that the Australia cricket team will tour Pakistan in early 2026 for a white-ball series, with the final dates now confirmed.

According to sources, the tour will begin with a three-match T20 International series, scheduled to be played between January 30 and February 5, 2026.

This will be followed by a three-match One-Day International (ODI) series, which is planned for March 13 to March 18, 2026. This ODI series will take place after the ICC T20 World Cup.
