26 Militants Killed in Pakistan Strikes Along Afghan Border: Tarar

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan said on Wednesday that it carried out precision strikes along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border targeting militant hideouts after a series of recent terrorist attacks across the country.

Information Minister Atta Tarar said in a post on X that the operations followed attacks in Musa Darra on June 9, a vehicle-borne suicide attack on a military post in North Waziristan on June 2, and an assault on a police station in Bannu on May 9. He also shared a video of the terrorist hideouts targeted in the airstrikes.

He said security forces launched “precise and calibrated” strikes on hideouts and safe havens of planners and masterminds linked to Fitna al-Khawarij.

Tarar said the strikes killed 26 “Indian-sponsored Khawarij,” according to intelligence assessments.

He said security forces used credible intelligence to carry out selective targeting of camps and shelters with precision.

He added that four targets were destroyed. These included a training center, a hideout, an ammunition cache and Marakiz linked to commanders Aleem Khan Khushali and Akhtar Muhammad Jani Khel.

Tarar said Pakistan remained committed to regional peace and stability. He said the protection of citizens remained the state’s top priority.

He added that counterterrorism operations under the national “Azm-e-Istehkam” strategy would continue at full pace.

He said security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue efforts to eliminate what he described as foreign-sponsored terrorism in the country.

It is pertinent to mention here that militants of the Fitna al Khawarij had martyred six paramilitary personnel in a militant attack near the northwestern city of Peshawar a day earlier.
