Pakistan: Palestinian Issue Root Cause of Middle East Instability

UNITED NATIONS : Pakistan has declared that the Palestinian issue is the root cause of instability in the Middle East, urging an end to Israeli occupation and a two-state solution as the only path to lasting peace in the region.

Speaking at the United Nations, Pakistani Permanent Representative Asim Iftikhar said that despite a ceasefire in Gaza, more than 800 Palestinians have been martyred in Israeli attacks. He demanded that the second phase of the Gaza peace plan be completed without delay.

Iftikhar also expressed grave concern over settler violence and the expansion of illegal settlements in the West Bank, stating that Israel’s discriminatory measures are strengthening a system based on racial discrimination.

“The ongoing incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the violation of holy sites should be stopped immediately,” the Pakistani envoy said.

He added that more than 2,000 civilians have been killed and injured in Israeli military operations in Lebanon. Furthermore, he stressed that Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity should be fully respected.

Pakistan’s remarks come as the Middle East remains engulfed in multiple flashpoints, with the international community struggling to broker lasting ceasefires and political solutions.
