LAHORE: The Ban on Entry of Heavy Vehicles into Islamabad via the M-2 Motorway will take effect from September 23, with heavy and cargo vehicles travelling from Lahore being diverted to an alternative route, according to the Motorway Police.
A Motorway Police spokesperson said heavy vehicles heading towards Islamabad from Lahore will not be allowed to enter the capital via the M-2 during the restriction period.
The GT Road has been designated as the alternative route for heavy vehicles travelling towards Islamabad.
According to the spokesperson, heavy and cargo vehicles already travelling on the M-2 and M-3 motorways will be diverted towards the GT Road at Kala Shah Kaku.
M-1 Peshawar Motorway Closed to All Traffic
The spokesperson also announced that the M-1 Peshawar Motorway will remain closed to all types of traffic from 11pm tonight until further notice.
Motorists have been advised to use designated alternative routes and follow traffic instructions issued by the Motorway Police during the closure.

The Motorway Police has also urged drivers to check the latest traffic and road conditions before beginning their journey and to follow official instructions regarding route changes.
Motorists travelling towards Islamabad are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and allow additional travel time due to the restrictions and diversions.
