ISLAMABAD: Pakistan issues demarche to Afghan Taliban over recent terrorist incidents allegedly originating from Afghan soil, drone incursions and violations along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, conveying strong concerns through diplomatic channels.
The development comes amid heightened tensions over cross-border security incidents. Pakistan has urged the Afghan authorities to take effective measures against militant elements and prevent Afghan territory from being used for activities targeting Pakistan.
Pakistan issues demarche to Afghan Taliban over drone incursions and border violations
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Islamabad conveyed its serious concerns to the Afghan authorities regarding recent terrorist attacks, drone-related incidents and violations of Pakistani airspace.
The demarche was handed over to the Afghan authorities following an incident on September 23 involving drones and an alleged violation of Pakistan’s airspace. Pakistan formally protested over the incident and other recent border-related developments.
Foreign Office spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan confirmed that Pakistan had taken up the matter with the Afghan authorities and conveyed its concerns regarding terrorism and the security situation along the border.
Pakistan told the Afghan authorities that terrorist attacks inside its territory and violations of its sovereignty would not be tolerated. Islamabad also called on Kabul to take effective action against militant groups and ensure that Afghan territory is not used for activities directed against Pakistan.
The latest diplomatic communication covers a range of security concerns, including alleged terrorist attacks, drone incursions and incidents along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
Pakistan has also rejected claims by the Afghan Taliban linking Islamabad to clashes in Afghanistan’s Nuristan province, maintaining its position on the recent security developments.
The diplomatic engagement comes alongside Pakistan’s security response to recent cross-border incidents, with Islamabad continuing to raise the issue through both security and diplomatic channels.
