ISLAMABAD : Pakistan has launched intelligence-based precision strikes against two terrorist camps and associated infrastructure inside Afghanistan, officials confirmed Tuesday, in direct retaliation for a deadly attack on a Frontier Constabulary (FC) post that claimed the lives of six soldiers.
The operation, which security sources describe as a targeted counterterrorism action, comes just hours after militants struck an FC position along the volatile Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The six personnel who embraced Shahadat have been identified, and their funeral prayers are expected to be held with full military honors.
According to Pakistan’s military wing, the strikes were meticulously planned using intelligence assets and successfully hit the designated terrorist hideouts. No further operational details were immediately released.
However, in the aftermath of the strikes, officials in Islamabad accused certain Afghan Taliban accounts of spreading disinformation. “Afghan Taliban accounts are, as usual, peddling fake news about strikes on civilian homes and casualties,” a Pakistani security official said, dismissing reports of civilian harm as baseless propaganda.
The development marks a significant escalation in cross-border tensions. Pakistan has repeatedly demanded that Afghanistan’s de facto Taliban authorities prevent its soil from being used for attacks against Pakistan. Islamabad maintains that multiple terror groups operate with impunity from Afghan territory, a charge Kabul has consistently denied.
