ISLAMABAD: The death toll in Pakistan’s ongoing military operation has risen sharply, with Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar confirming that at least 133 operatives of the Afghan Taliban regime have been killed and over 200 injured in the expanded phase of Operation Ghazb-ul-Haq.
In the latest official update issued at 3:40 AM on February 27, 2026, Minister Tarar provided comprehensive details of the damage inflicted on Taliban military infrastructure across multiple Afghan provinces.
According to the minister, Afghan Taliban defense targets were struck in Kabul, Paktia, and Kandahar, with more casualties possible as operations continue. The confirmed toll of 133 killed represents a significant escalation from previous figures.
The statement detailed extensive destruction of high-value military assets. Among the targets destroyed were:
· Two corps headquarters
· Three brigade headquarters
· Two ammunition depots
· One logistics base
· Three battalion headquarters
· Two sector headquarters
· More than 80 tanks, artillery guns, and Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs)
In terms of territorial gains, Minister Tarar confirmed that 27 posts belonging to the Afghan Taliban regime have been destroyed, while an additional 9 posts have been captured and are now under Pakistani control.
“Pakistan’s effective counter-attacks are ongoing,” the minister stated, signaling that the operation remains active and further strikes are expected.
The update confirms that Operation Ghazb-ul-Haq has now targeted militant infrastructure in at least three Afghan provinces, marking one of the most extensive cross-border military responses by Pakistan in recent years. The operation was launched in response to what Islamabad describes as unprovoked shelling on Pakistani civilian settlements along the border.
