ISLAMABAD: In a startling revelation that has added a new layer of complexity to the ongoing political crisis, Senator Faisal Vawda has categorically stated that there is no deal or concession in place for the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan. The assertion comes amidst heightened tensions in the federal capital, where PTI sit-ins continue to paralyze key sectors.
Speaking on the program “Tonight with Samar Abbas,” Vawda dismissed any speculation about a potential softening of the government’s stance toward the incarcerated opposition leader. “The founder of PTI is not being sent abroad or shifted to Bani Gala,” he stated unequivocally, quashing rumors of a possible transfer that would ease the former prime minister’s detention conditions.
In his most explosive comments, Vawda suggested that the current political turmoil is not spontaneous but rather part of a calculated design. “Everyone is being managed. In a way, they are moving towards minus one, and all this is being done under an arrangement, which also includes today’s protest,” he claimed.
The term “minus one” in Pakistan’s political lexicon has long been interpreted as the removal of a key political figure from the national landscape, and Vawda’s use of the phrase is likely to ignite fierce debate. His remarks imply that the ongoing protests, which have seen parliament sealed and scuffles break out at the Parliament Lodges, may inadvertently be playing into a broader strategy.
The senator’s statements stand in stark contrast to the PTI’s narrative that their protests are a spontaneous outburst against the government’s refusal to allow access to Imran Khan’s personal physician. As the capital remains gridlocked and negotiations appear to have hit a dead end, Vawda’s claims are expected to deepen the fissures in an already volatile political atmosphere.
