ISLAMABAD: The solar panel prices have witnessed a significant increase across the country ahead of the upcoming federal budget, creating concerns among consumers planning to switch to renewable energy solutions.
In this regard, traders and industry stakeholders reported that the prices of solar panels have increased substantially over the past few days, with the cost of individual panels rising by approximately Rs7,000 to Rs9,000 depending on capacity and specifications.
The sharp rise has affected both individual consumers and businesses looking to invest in solar energy systems.
Similarly, the price of a 645-watt solar panel has also recorded a notable jump. The panel, which was earlier being sold for around Rs22,000, is now available at nearly Rs31,200 after an increase of more than Rs9,000.
The cost of larger-capacity solar panels has also moved upward. According to market data, the price of a 720-watt solar panel has increased from Rs25,000 to approximately Rs33,500 after a rise of around Rs8,500.
Meanwhile, consumers and renewable energy advocates have expressed concern that higher prices could slow the adoption of solar energy at a time when many households and businesses are seeking alternative solutions to manage rising electricity costs.
The latest increase in solar panel prices comes at a time when interest in renewable energy continues to grow across Pakistan, with many consumers turning to solar solutions to reduce dependence on conventional power sources and address increasing energy expenses.
