KARACHI: A suspect arrested in the killing of a woman and her three children in Karachi was produced before a judicial magistrate on Monday.
The court approved a five-day physical remand and handed the suspect, Masroor Hussain, into police custody.
The magistrate also sought a progress report from the investigating officer at the next hearing.
The court was informed that the suspect confessed to the crime during initial interrogation.
Police said physical remand was required to complete further investigation, which the court granted.
According to police, the suspect claimed he was under severe mental stress.
He alleged the victim, identified as Anila, practiced amulets, which triggered the killings.

The bodies of the woman and her three children were later recovered from a hole and sewer in an empty plot near Mai Kolachi Road.
Police said the victims were residents of the Kharadar area.
Authorities said further investigation is underway. Other aspects of the case are also being examined.
