Barred at Minar-e-Pakistan, PPP to Rally at Governor House Tonight

PPP Confident of Victory as It Launches Quetta Local Body Election Campaign

LAHORE: Th،e Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has announced a rally at the Governor House in Lahore tonight at 8 PM after authorities denied permission for the party to hold its gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan, escalating political tensions in the provincial capital.

Shortly after the refusal was communicated, Punjab Highway Authority (PHA) officials and Punjab Police personnel began dismantling party equipment from the Minar-e-Pakistan venue. Workers were seen removing stages, chairs, and lighting fixtures that had been installed for the planned political gathering.

The administration has also initiated the evacuation of citizens who were present inside Minar-e-Pakistan, with all entry gates closed to the public. Security personnel sealed off the area as the cleanup operation continued through the evening.

Despite the crackdown, PPP workers have begun arriving at Minar-e-Pakistan and are reportedly prepared for arrest, signaling a potential confrontation with law enforcement agencies.

The party leadership has condemned the administration’s actions, calling the denial of permission an attack on democratic rights. All eyes are now on the Governor House, where PPP has vowed to hold its rally as announced.
