PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has officially approved a progressive initiative to provide free electric scooters to working women and female students across the province.
During a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, authorities were directed to immediately execute the free electric scooters scheme, starting with the capital city of Peshawar before expanding to other districts.
Chief Minister Afridi emphasized that this landmark project guarantees safe, reliable, and independent mobility for women pursuing education or professional careers, while simultaneously curbing environmental pollution.
By fostering economic self-reliance through free electric scooters, the provincial administration aims to dismantle traditional commuting barriers and empower women to actively participate in the regional workforce.
Strategic Infrastructure and Socio-Economic Growth in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The approval of sustainable transit solutions forms part of a broader, multi-sectoral development strategy implemented by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to uplift marginalized communities and modernize provincial infrastructure.
Strategic policy measures are actively reshaping social welfare, public transport, education, and regional connectivity through structured development programs.
Key focus areas include expanding mass transit networks like the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system to adjacent districts, upgrading shelter homes, and introducing specialized welfare frameworks for differently-abled citizens.
Furthermore, investments in modernizing regional sports complexes, establishing technical educational facilities, and reviving historical tourism corridors demonstrate a holistic commitment to sustainable long-term growth.
By integrating green technology initiatives—such as exploring local electric vehicle manufacturing—with robust social safety nets like the comprehensive Socio-Economic Registry, the administration ensures transparent resource allocation and economic resilience.
Such initiatives taken by the provincial goverment will enhance women empowerment and make them a significant part of country’s development and economy.
