Iran says US talks ongoing, warns against speculation

TEHRAN : Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has urged patience regarding negotiations with the United States, stating that disappointments should not be given importance and that discussions remain active through ongoing talks and message exchanges.

Speaking to Iranian state media, Araqchi emphasized that no decisions or definitive opinions can be formed until the process yields a clear result. His remarks appeared aimed at tamping down speculation over the status of the behind-the-scenes dialogue between the two long-time adversaries.

“Disappointments should not be given importance,” Araqchi said, adding that both verbal discussions and written exchanges of messages with the US are continuing. He cautioned against drawing premature conclusions, noting that the fluid nature of the negotiations means outcomes remain uncertain.

The top Iranian diplomat also dismissed what he called unfounded speculations, urging observers to withhold judgment until concrete developments emerge. “We should not give importance to speculations,” he reiterated, underscoring that the focus remains on the negotiating track.

The remarks come amid recurring reports of indirect or mediated talks between Tehran and Washington on issues ranging from Iran’s nuclear program to regional tensions. While no breakthrough has been announced, Araqchi’s comments signal that both channels of communication remain open, despite periodic setbacks.

“No decision or opinion regarding the talks can be given until a clear result is reached,” Araqchi concluded, reinforcing Tehran’s stance of measured engagement while managing public expectations at home.
