Internet services have been fully restored in Islamabad and Rawalpindi after a disruption affected users in several areas of the twin cities, according to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
The disruption had caused difficulties for residents and internet users, with services becoming unavailable or unstable in parts of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The PTA later confirmed that the technical fault had been resolved and that internet connectivity had returned to normal.
The disruption was linked to a fault in the optical fiber network of a telecommunications operator.
The authority said that damage to an optical fiber cable had affected the network of some service providers. The problem resulted in partial disruption to internet services in certain locations. However, the issue was described as being limited to specific areas rather than a nationwide outage.
The PTA had earlier advised users in the affected areas not to be concerned, while technical teams worked to repair the optical fiber infrastructure and restore connectivity.
The initial disruption was reported in different parts of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, leaving some residents facing difficulties accessing internet services.
The PTA said that internet services in central and southern parts of the country were operating normally. Some areas in the northern region, however, experienced interruptions due to the network fault.
The geographical nature of the disruption indicated that the issue was primarily associated with the affected telecommunications infrastructure rather than a complete nationwide internet shutdown.
Technical Teams Worked to Restore Connectivity
Following the identification of the optical fiber fault, technical teams were deployed to repair the damaged infrastructure. The PTA had said that restoring the affected services could take several hours because of the nature of the repair work.

The authority subsequently confirmed that the fault had been addressed and that internet services in the affected areas were fully restored.
The development brings an end to the connectivity problems reported by users in the twin cities, although telecommunications networks can experience localized disruptions when fiber infrastructure is damaged or interrupted.
