Islamabad: Pakistan has lodged a strong protest against the violation of its maritime boundaries by an Indian naval ship within its exclusive economic zone.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today summoned the Charge d’ Affaires of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, and lodged a strong protest over a highly provocative and unacceptable action by a vessel of the Indian Navy in the Pakistan’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) on 15 September 2026.
According to the Foreign Office, the incident occurred during Pakistan Navy exercises on September 7, when the Indian naval ship INS Kolkata repeatedly attempted to enter the exercise area and engaged in erratic and irresponsible maneuvers within the disputed zone.
These actions reflect deliberate attempts to undermine regional peace. Despite rescue efforts by the Pakistan Navy ship Hunain, a collision occurred.
Following the incident, INS Kolkata increased speed and fled the scene, while the Pakistan Navy demonstrated responsible behavior to prevent escalation.
Pakistan has issued a stern warning that future occurrences of such nature will not be met with restraint and leniency.
