AHMADABAD: An official statement was released following an International Cricket Council (ICC) consultative meeting in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, detailing several significant decisions regarding international cricket. Among these, the council expressed concern over the rising trend of franchise cricket, stating that its rapid growth is negatively affecting international cricket.

The meeting also approved a trial for the use of pink balls in Test cricket, contingent upon the mutual consent of both playing teams.

In another change, the duration of the innings break in T20 Internationals will be extended to 15 minutes.

Critically, the ICC approved a “hybrid pathway” for the 2028 Cricket World Cup, which is scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan.

Under this arrangement, India will play its matches at neutral venues.
