Mogadishu: The crisis surrounding the oil tanker Honor 25, which was hijacked by Somali pirates, remains unresolved even after 40 days.
The tanker was hijacked on April 21, 2026, and its 17 crew members—comprising Pakistani, Indian, Indonesian, and Myanmar nationals—remain in pirate custody.
According to sources, the Honor 25 is currently anchored off the Somali coast.
The Somali pirates initially demanded a ransom of $10 million, which they later lowered to $4 million; however, negotiations have so far yielded no results.
Meanwhile, the Somali government has assured the Government of Pakistan of its full cooperation regarding the matter and has also sent a formal letter to the Pakistani authorities to that effect.
