GWADAR: Gwadar Port Authority Chairman Noor ul Haq Baloch and Hangeng Company CEO Andy Li Hao have announced that new industries in Gwadar Port and Free Zone will stimulate regional economic growth while creating substantial local employment opportunities.
At a joint press briefing, Andy Li Hao revealed Hangeng’s plans to establish food processing and export industries, beginning with a donkey meat processing project. This initiative will also support ancillary industries including salt production, packaging, and transportation in surrounding areas.
“While donkey farming exists elsewhere in Pakistan, Balochistan has lacked such facilities until now,” Li Hao stated. “We’re establishing breeding and farming operations in Gwadar to ensure local availability of resources.”
The CEO emphasized their commitment to local employment, highlighting the Pak-China Technical and Vocational Institute’s role in training Gwadar residents. “We’ve already trained professionals like Abdul Razaq, and over 1,000 more youth will receive training for positions with our company.”
Chairman Baloch stressed that port operations depend on industrial development. “Companies like Hangeng and Egwine will boost port activity and directly benefit local fishermen. We anticipate regular ship operations will resume soon.”
The Chairman outlined the project’s dual benefits: strengthening Chinese investor confidence while generating local economic growth. He noted that traditional crafts and handicrafts would also experience revival through these initiatives.
“The more industries grow, the more Gwadar’s people will benefit – that’s our ultimate goal,” Chairman Baloch concluded.
