GWADAR: The member of the Balochistan Provincial Assembly from Gwadar, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, met Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) Director General Moeen-ur-Rehman Khan at his office on Sunday to review ongoing development projects and the water supply situation in the coastal city.
The meeting was attended by GDA Chief Engineer Haji Syed Muhammad, Director Town Planning Shahid Ali and other officials.
During the meeting, officials briefed the provincial assembly member on the progress of several development schemes underway in Gwadar. The projects discussed included the rehabilitation of the Pishukan Fish Landing Jetty, Ladies Bazaar, Shahi Bazaar, the futsal ground and the Sarbandar Link Road.
Officials said efforts were being made to complete the ongoing projects within their निर्धारित timelines. They further informed the meeting that the inauguration of some of the projects was expected to take place during the current month.
Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman reviewed the progress of the schemes and discussed the need for timely completion of projects aimed at improving civic infrastructure and facilities for residents of Gwadar.
The meeting also focused on the city’s current water supply situation and available water resources. Officials particularly reviewed the present water level in Suud Dam, which remains an important source of water for the area.
The participants discussed possible measures to address any potential water shortage and considered advance preparations and alternative arrangements to deal with a possible water crisis.
GDA Director General Moeen-ur-Rehman Khan said the authority was fully prepared to deal with a possible water-related situation through advance planning and necessary arrangements. However, he stressed the need for the provincial government to take timely measures to secure additional funds and ensure the availability of required resources.
Focus on Cleanliness and Urban Environment
The meeting also reviewed measures being taken by the GDA to improve cleanliness, promote tree plantation and enhance the overall urban environment of Gwadar.
Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman appreciated the GDA’s efforts in maintaining cleanliness, expanding plantation activities and improving municipal services in the city. He described the authority’s role in improving civic facilities and the urban environment as commendable.
