ISLAMABAD: The government has approved civil awards for 78 martyrs and gallantry heroes in recognition of their sacrifices, courage and exceptional services rendered for the country.
The decision was taken during a special committee meeting on gallantry awards chaired by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad.
The committee approved civil awards for individuals who sacrificed their lives in the service of Pakistan as well as those who demonstrated exceptional courage and bravery in different circumstances.
In this regard, a total of 78 individuals have been included in various categories for the civil awards.
Addressing the meeting, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that honouring those who sacrificed their lives for the country and demonstrated extraordinary bravery was a national responsibility.
He said the nation remained indebted to the martyrs and veterans whose sacrifices and acts of courage had contributed to the country’s security and national interests.
“The sacrifices of our martyrs and the courage of our heroes are a national asset,” Naqvi said, stressing that the nation would continue to remember and honour those who had made exceptional contributions for Pakistan.
The Interior Minister said that recognising the services and sacrifices of the country’s martyrs and gallantry heroes was important to acknowledge their contributions and inspire future generations.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Federal Secretary Interior, Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Additional Secretary Cabinet Division and other senior officials.
The approval of the awards indicates the government’s continued policy of recognising individuals who have demonstrated exceptional courage, devotion and sacrifice in the service of the country.
The final awards are expected to formally acknowledge the contributions of the selected individuals across different categories.
The move also underlines the national importance attached to the sacrifices of martyrs and the bravery of those who have served Pakistan with distinction.
The government reasserted that the sacrifices of the nation’s martyrs and the courage displayed by its heroes would remain an enduring part of Pakistan’s national heritage.
